Linderman Library, home of Lehigh University Press, with fall foliage.Authors or editors should e-mail a detailed proposal that includes both a description of the project and chapter summaries, a brief curriculum vitae, and a sample chapter to inlup@lehigh.edu

Please include in your proposal:

  • A detailed description of the project
  • A table of contents and chapter summaries
  • Manuscript length
  • Anticipated date of completion

Please do not submit complete manuscripts unless requested by an editor.

For those proposals that the press wishes to consider for review, LUP will request authors submit a full manuscript and a completed Manuscript Information Sheet. If LUP decides to move forward after seeing a full manuscript, we send the project to two external reviewers, experts in their fields who will assess the work and make recommendations in writing to the Director and Editorial Board.

Manuscripts that the Press accepts for publication must, at the time of final submission, be fully revised, use endnotes rather than footnotes, and conform to the University of Chicago Manual of Style. Final submissions must adhere to the guidelines laid out in Rowman & Littlefield's Manuscript Preparation Guide and Permissions Guide. Permissions must be secured prior to submission of the final copy.

Lehigh University Press does not publish recent fiction, recent poetry, or textbooks. Nor do we publish manuscripts where 50% of the content has already appeared in print. We do not consider unrevised dissertations, or manuscripts already under consideration by another press.
